All About Rob Sabado

There are certain musicians that over time become iconic and serve as touchstones for our times and popular culture. These artists include rising star Rob Sabado, a master saxophone stylist whose versatility has earned him worldwide notability and the distinction of being the only American-Filipino artist to have performed the saxophone at The Library of Congress. Sabado's remarkable talents are on full display throughout his latest release, "Spice of Life." The recording was produced by multi-Grammy winner and smooth jazz star, Paul Brown.

This release brings together incredible musicians: Roberto Vally on bass, Marco Basci on keyboards, Gorden Campbell on drums, Daryl Williams on bass and Paul Brown on guitar. The industry go-to percussionist, Lenny Castro, also makes an appearance on four tracks. All of these musicians create an atmosphere for Sabado to display his talent and live up to "having the best tone around," as stated by jazz legend, Stan Getz, at Stanford University during the Stanford Jazz Workshop.

Furthering his practice of recording songs that span many different stylistic genres, Sabado's release offers a selection of urban-flavored grooves, soulful romantic ballads and jazz-inspired improvisations. "I have been around the world and I believe my music can take the listener to exotic lands," explains Sabado. "The listener may want to take a funky trip downtown with 'Finger Play' or take a romantic stroll listening to 'On the Beach.' I think that accounts for the diversity on Spice of Life." The first single, “I Love It”, hit the radio during the last week of January 2016 and placed on Billboard’s Top 30 Contemporary jazz chart!
